Universidad Mayor (UM) is a private, non-profit higher education institution, founded in 1988. The institutional mission statement reads: “Universidad Mayor is a higher education institution, open and independent, committed to the training of professionals as educated citizens and entrepreneurs, as well as to the preservation and dissemination of scholar knowledge, within the context of a global World, all of which is geared towards the benefit of society and the progress of the nation.”  

 

Within this frame, Universidad Mayor takes on the responsibility to:  

Provide high quality education to its students at undergraduate level and to maintain the excellence in graduate programs.

Encourage an attitude of entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, International insertion and respect for cultural diversity in the educational experience of its students.

Implement activities which contribute to the national community, respecting regulations of scientific rigor, within the cultural, educational, social and economic areas.

Maintain a quality assurance system within the organizational and functional levels.

 

Universidad Mayor regards as its primary function Undergraduate Education which covers a wide disciplinary spectrum and includes Administration, Architecture, Education, Arts, Humanities, Health, Law, Social Sciences and Technology.  Extension, research, services and specially international insertion are paramount elements in the relationship with the environment and the educational process. 

 

Universidad Mayor is a community which holds a rich diversity of professional, academic and personal interests.  This fact contributes to the achievement of the institutional objectives, and consequently students are admitted without regard of social or geographic origin.
