Universidad Mayor has the strong will of becoming consolidated as a University with true autonomy in which academic freedom prevails and the best conditions are sought so that its activities are carried out in a rational manner, within an appropriate dialogue and with a responsible collaboration of all its members, having as the only conditions respect for the hierarchies and excluding all type of violence.
The University is conducted having the goal to accomplish and build a fair equilibrium between an effective scientific and technological education and a profound humanism, valuing in this way the richness of the educational process as well as a professional behaviour, being possible to establish great coherence between both objectives.
Through motivating the free exercise of the students’ strengths, the University promotes attitudes of initiative, creativity, leadership and entrepreneurship. It intends that its students do not limit themselves to be project executors alienated from themselves, but that they also consider the possibilities of creating work and innovative undertakings, for their own and personal consecration and for the well-being of the social community they are part of.
The University is committed to undergo a regular and systematic assessment of its activities and processes, taking on that assessment and critical revision of its projects and activities as governing principles in the exercise of its autonomy.
The University is committed to achieving excellence regarding the education of its professionals as well as within its own management. Consequently, it expects from all members of the community the permanent disposition to self-demand this level of excellence and to develop an attitude of rejecting mediocrity and settling for the minimum or being content with merely superficial success.
The University holds the conviction of the need of being unsatisfied with what it has been achieved so far, and feels certain that the Institution itself and all those who are involved, have much to correct and improve in order to achieve the excellence it has always sought.
